More! for Thanksgiving

If there’s one holiday that I can appreciate its Thanksgiving. This holiday is rooted in giving thanks for what you have in your life. Looking back over the year and remembering what blessings came into your life and pausing from our nonstop go lives and giving thanks for those blessings. Oh and of course there’s that big meal with your loved ones and in my house there’s football, all day snacks, and leftovers. So let me share with you all what I’m thankful for this holiday.

Family tops my list even if they’re spread over many miles. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and all the extended cast of characters that keeps the screenplay of my life interesting. Two wonderful kids keep my life interesting and exciting every moment they touch. Always reminding me how wonderful and amazing the world is when viewed through the eyes of a child. I hope they enjoy being young and don’t grow up too fast. My two adopted girls, sugar and spice, who remind me what it means to be young and hip. I hope I can keep learning from them so I don’t seem so out of touch to my other younger children. I’m thankful for a wonderful woman, who brings out the best in me, inspires me to do more and be more in the most loving way. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to my life. I love you dearly. I’m thankful for my dad and his influence that means more to me than I think he knows. And last but certainly not least my mother who has been a rock of love and support my entire life.

Following up as a close second to family, I’m thankful for a few very dear friends who also seem to be scattered far and wide. The ones that shared my adventures, good times, bad times, Vegas times, and some completely unmentionable times to help form some of the most precious memories. Though I feel like I’ve lost touch with some of you know that you’re always welcome in my life.

I’m thankful for a great community that I call home and work that keeps my mind active and agile. I’m thankful that I’m in a position to innovate and contribute to meaningful work that improves scientific pursuits and I’m also thankful for some great tools that help me organize and focus my efforts.

Last but certainly not least I’m thankful there are some amazing leftovers in the fridge and tums in the medicine cabinet. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
